Free pruning class

Greater Atlanta Rose Society offers a FREE pruning class. Get hands on experience with Consulting Rosarians at one of Atlanta’s treasured gardens – the Carter Center rose garden. From Hybrid Tea roses to ramblers – we can show you how to be an expert at pruning in no time! Not required, but would recommend wearing gloves, and if you have your own clippers, please bring!

New & best roses

Consulting Rosarian Christopher Huffer. Christopher, who has over 600 roses in his private garden, will show you what new varieties are out in 2026. What roses are best to buy – and maybe some of those you should stay away from in our climate.

Volunteer day

GARS helps curate and maintain the rose garden at the Carter Center. The garden is a true Atlanta gem – a free public rose garden where you can enjoy various types of roses in a no spray garden. This is a great opportunity to learn about roses and give back to your community! We recommend bringing gloves (you know what they say – every rose has its thorns).

We have even more events scheduled through the year. Open to rose society members and the public.

Our membership includes consulting rosarians certified by the American Rose Society who provide expert advice specific to our region. We also have master rosarians (consulting rosarians with 10 years of experience) who are also happy to provide guidance. The best part—you don’t have to be a member to connect with a volunteer!
