About the rose show
The Greater Atlanta Rose Society is the oldest plant society in Atlanta and was founded in 1957. We are delighted to return to the Atlanta Botanical Garden for our 64th annual rose show. The purpose of this event is to showcase garden roses and arrangements by local rosarians and amateur gardeners, and celebrate the best roses from our gardens.
Entries span a wide range of categories and classes, and feature the best of what can be grown in our region. Example classes include Hybrid Teas, Floribunda, Polyantha, Grandiflora, climbers, shrubs, old garden roses, miniatures, and mini-floras.
Judging requires accreditation through the American Rose Society which usually takes several years of horticultural training and apprenticeship.
We welcome everyone to enter the rose show. Novice and experienced gardeners alike have been known to place in show categories. This show is a celebration of our rose gardening and what we can accomplish. If you haven’t entered a rose show before, please consider doing so this year!
If you are joining us as a spectator and have rose questions, we will have experienced Consulting Rosarians (accredited by the American Rose Society) on hand.
Entering the competition
The official list of categories for horticulture and arrangements are forthcoming. We will post an update on our website once they are confirmed. If you would like guidance on how to enter the show, please come to the April meeting of the Greater Atlanta Rose Society for one on one help.
Volunteers welcome
Would you like to help with this event? We need assistance setting up and breaking down the show. Reach out to anyone on the committee if you’re interested!
