WELCOME to the Greater Atlanta Rose Society website!  Thank you for taking the time to view our site.
Our members share a common goal - the enjoyment of roses and spreading that enjoyment to other gardeners. We accomplish this education and promotion through our monthly meetings, special events, rose show, garden tours, newsletter and Consulting Rosarian program.

Enjoy your visit!  We hope you find it interesting and informative.

Open Garden Invitation

We are having an open garden on Sunday, 4/28/2019, from 1pm to 5pm.  If it rains, we have umbrellas, but no rain date.  No cost to visit.

Our garden is not formal.  It is a "working" garden, which means it has weeds and tools around the area.  There are no formal "beds" of roses, instead many of them are in pots and scattered around to catch the most sun.  The ground is uneven, and begins with a steep walk up the driveway.  We do not have hybrid teas, that normal florist flower.  I don't want folks to be disappointed when they get here.

So why visit our garden?  We have a variety of "other" roses - a few floribundas and grandifloras, polyanthas, shrubs, climbers, Old Garden Roses, species, miniatures, and minifloras.  We selected our roses for their history, their charm, fragrance, and colors.  They grow in a semi-shady Gwinnett garden with lots of trees and only patches of sun; these are roses that can cope with such an environment.  We like to exhibit our roses, so we use chemical fungicides, but no insecticides.  There are about 225 roses, some dating to the 1500s and before, some as new as last year.

We welcome you to see what roses can be in our Atlanta environment.
